How was your week

It’s NFL wild card weekend. Now remember there where two extra teams added to the playoffs this season; so instead of four wild card games there are six games to kickoff wild card weekend.

Adding the extra playoff games means some extra television money for the NFL, but in a season where some teams had no fans in attendance and some teams had just a limited number of fans in the stands some extra television money wouldn’t hurt.

Let’s have a quick look at this weekends games.

The first game is scheduled to kickoff today at 12:05 p.m. on CBS as the Indianapolis Colts visit the Buffalo Bills.

The second game is scheduled to kickoff at 3:40 p.m. on Fox as the Los Angeles Rams visit the Seattle Seahawks.

The final Saturday game is scheduled for a 7:15 p.m. kickoff on NBC and it has the Tampa Bay Buccaneers traveling to Washington to face the Football Team.

On Sunday the first game is scheduled to kickoff at 12:05 p.m. and it will be on ABC and ESPN. This game features the Baltimore Ravens at the Tennessee Titans.

The second game has a scheduled kickoff time of 3:40 p.m. and is on CBS. It has the Chicago Bears visiting the New Orleans Saints.

The final wild card game of the weekend is on NBC and it has a scheduled kickoff time of 7:15 p.m. This game has the Pittsburgh Steelers hosting the Cleveland Browns.

Now yesterday on the Sports Time Radio podcast Schaumburg Stu made his picks for these games and here’s who he’s going with. In today’s games he likes the Buffalo Bills, the Seattle Seahawks and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In tomorrow’s games Schaumburg Stu is going with the Baltimore Ravens the New Orleans Saints and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Now since we live in the Chicago area I added an extra pick for Schaumburg Stu. The line for the Bears/Saints game had New Orleans favored by as much as 10 points; so I had Schaumburg Stu make a pick just like he was betting on the game. Even though they’re a 10 point favorite Schaumburg Stu still likes the Saints. That means he has the Saints beating the Bears by more than 10 points tomorrow.

Now I’d like to know your picks for these games. Let me know who you think will win these wild card weekend games and just like Schaumburg Stu let me know how you feel about the Saints Bears game and if you’d be willing to bet on the Saints and give those 10 points or if you’d take the Bears in that game with those 10 points.

After a 6-10 season the Dallas Cowboys have decided that they needed to make some coaching changes to their defense that ranked 28th in scoring this season.

It has been reported that defensive coordinator Mike Nolan and defensive line coach Jim Tomsula have been fired. There’s no word yet on who might be the frontrunners to file these two coaching vacancies.

Through the first six games of the season Nolan’s defense gave up 218 points. That  tied for the third-worst mark in NFL history. For the season Nolan’s defense gave up 473 points which was the most in the history of the Cowboys. Nolan’s defense ranked 31st against the run and against the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens the Cowboys defense gave up over 290 rushing yards.

Looking at the numbers you can see why the Cowboys are making a change. Now will just have to wait and see who Jerry Jones and Mike McCarthy hire for these coaching openings.

  1. It would have been most surprising if Dallas didn’t make some coaching changes after their disappointing season.
I question some of Schaumburg Stew’s decisions but after all, he is an old man!
