Believe it or not this is Jennifer’s last All-Time team. I hope that you enjoyed them, and I think you should check out the comments for this All-Time team as I expect Schaumburg Stu to list his own All-Time Cubs team.

I hope you’ve enjoyed these teams.

  1. This is an imposing list and I suppose I could come up with my own but I’ll pass on that for now.
I would definitely slot in Greg Maddux instead of Ric Reuschel. Although his real success occurred when he was with Atlanta.
I think that Anthony Rizzo should be the reserve 1st baseman rather than Marc Grace and there should be a bench slot somewhere for Hank Sauer.
Hey, don’t forget about Frank Ernaga who hit a home run in his first at bat for the Cubs. (We won’t count the rest of his career!)
Ted Abernathy, the submarine pitcher, was also a good closer as was Lindy McDaniel although the slots picked for one and two are quite accurate.

Hey Stewart. Actually, I was considering Frank Chance and have Chance and Cuyler batting one and two. Bench Tinker and play Banks at short for some really good offense. So no Grace, but add Chance. My main reason for not doing that is I just wanted Sandberg batting 2nd.

What?, no 2016 Players? But they won the World Series?

Seriously, many of those players have fizzled throughout the years since then. Kris Bryant was great, but has stagnated. Baez is as undisciplined as ever. So much talent. What a shame. Shwarber is just a home run hitter. No better than Dave Kingman or Robb Deer. Rizzo came close, and perhaps Contreras can beat out Johnny Kling one day. None of their Pitchers then stayed long enough to be regarded as Cubs. It’s sad, but that’s the way it goes.

Stewart, as far as Maddux, I decided early on a player could be rostered once. Maddux is a Brave. Dawson is an Expo.

Hank Sauer was a nice player, but I will stay with Riggs Stephenson as my back up at LF. He hit .336 for his CAREER afterall.
