How was your week

Now like a lot of sports fans I also play fantasy sports. I play in season long leagues for Baseball, Basketball, Football and Hockey. As well as those leagues I also play daily fantasy on FanDuel. I’m sure a lot of you do the same thing as I do, and I’d like to know if you’re involved like I am.

Now in general I do very well in my season long fantasy leagues, but for some reason when it comes to FanDuel I’m just not as competitive and I’m not sure why. I’m much better in baseball and oddly NASCAR than I am in any of the other sports. To be fair I’m not a big enough fan of the NBA to play daily fantasy too often, but every once in a while, I put a line up in.

Like a lot of you I’m an avid sports fan and I follow along with everything that’s going on. I’ve tried watching the fantasy shows and checking out the fantasy websites, but when it comes to football, nothing seems to make me competitive.

We’re in Week 11 of the NFL season and in the first ten weeks I don’t think that any line up that I’ve entered on FanDuel has even won my money back. To be fair I never bet more than $1 or $2 on a line up, so it’s not like I’m betting everything I have on NFL games, but it would be nice to see some kind of a return or at least get my money back, I’m to the point where whatever I win in the other daily fantasy sports I play gets me through the football season and I’d like to change that.

Humorously one of the worst seasons I ever had not only in my yearly leagues, but on FanDuel was when I was listening to the fantasy Sports channel on Sirius XM on a regular basis. I followed along with a lot of what they said, and it sure didn’t work out for me. I knew I was in trouble with that station when I heard one of the host completely deny some advice, he had given the week before to a caller. That’s when I knew it was time to move on and find someone else to listen to when it came to fantasy sports.

I guess I’ll try again this week and see if I can manage to get my investment back, but I’d be willing to listen to any advice if you have some for me.

We’re headed to the end of the college football season and there’s a lot of talk about what teams are going to make it into the college football playoffs.

Coming into this week’s games there were four undefeated teams occupying the top four spots in the polls. Georgia was #1, Ohio State was #2, Michigan was #3 and TCU was #4. Michigan and TCU had very close games, but both ended up winning on late game field goals. It will be interesting to see if that affects their rankings even though both teams did win their games.

I know people have their favorite teams be it where you went to college or if it’s the college that’s in your local area, but the one thing you have to remember when it comes down to the college football playoff is it’s about money and only about money. It doesn’t really matter what team or teams deserve to be in the playoffs it’s all about what teams can deliver the television ratings and bring in the most money.

More or less what this is leading up to is the fact that the selection committee is trying as hard as they can to justify getting a two loss Alabama team into the college football playoffs. With the way Notre Dame is playing recently if they didn’t have three losses, you’d probably hear their name mentioned in the college football playoff conversation.

The playoffs start on New Year’s Eve with the semi-final games. They’re still considered bowl games, so one will be the Peach bowl and the other will be the Fiesta Bowl. The championship game will be played on January 9th, 2023.

At this point we just have to wait and see who the committee ends up voting in and if they’ll take a team with a loss or two over a team that is undefeated. No matter who gets into the college football playoffs there’s always a lot of discussion about who should and shouldn’t be there.

Don’t forget to look for me on Twitter while it’s still there, I’m @Burketime.

  1. It looks like Georgia is the legit #1 at least for now.
Michigan was very lucky to escape the Illini and a pass interference call at the end did them in. Plus, similar to the Bears, they couldn’t stop Michigan on 3rd or 4th down calls on their last drive.
Who is ranked higher, Roman Reigns or MJF??
