Let’s call it Wednesday

Well, I don’t know about you, but unfortunately for me yesterday my baseball season ended before it even got started.

Yesterday was the self-imposed deadline by the Major League Baseball owners to have a new Collective Bargaining Agreement with the Major League Baseball players union, but sadly that deadline came and went with no new agreement between the two sides.

Now if you remember the owners have said all along that if there was no new agreement by February 28th, they’d start cancelling regular season games. That date was oved back until 5:00 p.m. yesterday since the two sides seemed to be making progress as February 28th ended.

Both sides got together again yesterday, and it looked hopefully, but by the end of the day yesterday there was no new agreement and the owners announced that the first two regular season series for all 30 teams have been cancelled.

Now if you’ve read this blog before or listened to the Sports Time Radio podcast you know that I’ve been saying all along if there are no baseball games on March 30th, I won’t be watching baseball at all this season.

So, now that you know my baseball season is already over, how about yours? Are you managing to stay patient through these ridiculous negotiations? Or are you fed up like me?

So now I’m going to have to find something else to watch. I’ll have the NHL and sadly the NBA playoffs along with the NFL off-season which always seems to get a lot of attention, but once the dog days of summer hit what then? NASCAR will still be going on, but the races are only a couple of times a week counting the trucks and the Xfinity series. I guess I’ll be searching for some alternative sports to watch, do you have any suggestions for me?

This is going to be a very long summer for me since baseball is my al-time favorite sport out of the four major sports and I’m disappointed that they’ve been unable to come to any kind of agreement to get the season started on time.

If you’re hanging in their hoping you get some type of a baseball season, I really hope that you get that wish. I guess the question ow will be how many games the 2022 season will have since there is still no agreement in place and I haven’t heard if there’s a new deadline before the owners will cancel more regular season games.

Well, why don’t you weigh in on these negotiations for me. How do you think they’re going? and do you see an end in sight? Also, with those first two series already cancelled. how many games do you think the 2022 season will end up being?

  1. I was really optimistic that things were finally starting to progress. I hate to admit it, but if they finally settle this week and work out a 154 game schedule, I’d probably watch some of the games. Even though both sides are greedy bastards!
